McSherry Shows Power In Atlanta Marlins Loss To Cherokees Mid

McSherry hit two home runs and drove in three, but Atlanta Marlins lost to Cherokees Mid 14-10 on Wednesday. McSherry homered in the sixth and fourth innings.

Despite the loss, Atlanta Marlins did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Cherokees Mid had 13 hits on the way to victory.

Cherokees Mid got on the board in the top of the first inning after Johnson singled, scoring two runs, and Zimmerman doubled, scoring three runs.

Cherokees Mid added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when Burgess homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Hoyt doubled, scoring one run.

Cherokees Mid scored five runs on two hits in the top of the third inning. Hallman was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Burgess singled, scoring one run, Akins induced Grant to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, and an error scored one run.

Atlanta Marlins scored six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the third inning. Fricks doubled, scoring one run, Akins singled, scoring one run, Swan singled, scoring one run, Middleton singled, scoring one run, Travis singled, scoring one run, and De La Rosa singled, scoring one run.

Atlanta Marlins scored one run in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run to center field by McSherry on an 0-2 count.

McSherry homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Atlanta Marlins.

Fricks led things off on the hill for Atlanta Marlins. The hurler surrendered nine hits and 10 runs over two and one-third innings, striking out two and walking two. Peters began the game for Cherokees Mid. The hurler gave up 10 hits and eight runs (seven earned) over four innings, striking out four and walking none.
